Point of sale

I got my new point of sale in the mail today.  It is a square stand for the iPad, it will allow me to take credit cards and debit cards as long as I have a wifi connection. Next on the list will be to get a hotspot. I am looking at the Straight Talk hotspot from Walmart. It is only 85 and service would only be $15 and only on the month that I would use it.
Then next time we have a show out in the country I will have my own wifi and we'll be able to use the point of sales.

New video

I put together my knitting room in order to make videos. Mainly Toyota videos because there aren't that many out there.  Unfortunately I haven't used my Toyota lately and I am working more on the bulky machines. These past two weekends I have been busy making Hunter mask for a show coming up in November.
So I had the crazy idea why not film myself making a mask?
Of course it was about 45 minutes long and most of it was boring. Then I found that if I sped it up 4 times it would only be 11 minutes I could add captions and it really wasn't that bad to watch.
So I am now saving it on my computer and hopefully will upload it today on YouTube.
I still have one hat left in it so I guess I need to get back to it.

Closet for studio

While cleaning out my closet for the knitting room I realized it's a really  closet deep & very wide.
I might be able to use it as a little studio room for YouTube videos for my Toyota Machine.  I still haven't actually checked to see if the chair and machine and stand will fit in there I'm hoping it will.

knitting room day 3 :-)

I spent last night cleaning up after the dogs, they had been in all day and had some accidents.
So that was how I started off my evening.
When I finally got ready to clean again, I had to start on where my machines and yarn were stored,
It's now almost empty and it looks so much nicer.
But, I still haven't started on my knitting room, and if nothing else gets done today, to tell the truth  I just don't feel like it, I will get my cone winder up today.  I have my lk150 set up and I want to knit this afternoon. I can't knit using yarn straight from a skein.
I think I will turn on the  radio and let the tunes carry me away to that cleaning jazz I need :-)

Taking a break from knitting

I'm taking a break from dating for a while. I finally have a craft room and now all I have to do is move all the stuff that's not my knitting stuff into another room.  If you only knew how much I have to do but I'm hoping it'll  all be worth it.

Day 2 - converted pattern

I finally finished my pattern tonight.  I'm pretty happy with the way it came out.
After tweaking it for a week and finally took me two days to knit.
I made a few mistakes, nothing that shows I hope.
These are made on the LK 150 using Red Heart yarn with tension 5 & a gauge of  20 stitches and 28 Rows for 4 inches.

My first attempt at converting a pattern

I am trying to convert the slipper sock pattern to machine it.  It took all weekend, with my trust laptop and Excel but I think I might have just done it.  There is a slipper sock kit that you can buy from a local craft shop, it contains the leather soles ( fake fur lined ) also included is a pamphlet of instructions on knitting or crocheting the slipper sock.
I have giving up crocheting, it hurts my hands too much, but saw that the pattern was a flat piece and figured it could work on a machine.
So I spent all weekend trying to read a hand knit pattern, not as easy as it sounds for those of us who don't hand knit .  I think I did it, I really won't know until I test .
I got started today I cast on 50 stitches and knitted in one by one ribbing for 20 rows.

Almost finished

I'm almost going to be sad to see this go, but the baby layette set is almost finished.
They were all patterns that I got  from the bond machine knitting patterns.
All except the mittens and the sweater.

Baby knits

I do like the baby items I have finally made.  It took a while for me to find a good pattern for the booties but I think I made a good choice.  My next step is to try and write a pattern for the layette set I have made. I am hoping I can sell it,  it is made on the lk150, one of the more popular knitting machines.

Back to the baby items

Since I finished my cable sweater it is now time for me to get back to the baby things I love to make.

A lady at work is going to have a baby boy- there must be something in the water this is the second baby boy this year in the office- good thing I only drink bottle water ;-)

I finished the baby sweater last night, well finished as far as the machine is concerned.  I will be hand ribbing the sleeve and sweater hems and then knit the collar in seed stitch.  I have fallen in love with double pointed needles, I can't believe I was so intimidated by them for so long. To me they are so much easier then circular needles.  Of course that could be because I have a cheap set and the needle kept coming off the nylon.

Plus, for me it is easier to keep track of rounds with double pointed needles.

Non knitting

It feels a little weird lately, I finished the sweater and haven't started anything new yet.  I have nothing to do with my hands at night.  I do have same baby items to make I'm just not sure what I will do.  I had planned to do a christening robe but after much thought decided against it.
So I probably will stick with the tried and true baby layette.
I have just bought some yarn that I hope will look nice.   I want to make this set with my bulky and ribber.  Using the Passap makes me want to get my ribber out to make my bulky a double bed. It just isn't the same anymore with just one bed, now that I understand that a ribber can do a lot more then just a rib stitch.
I have a baby sweater on my machine right now but this weekend I'm going to hook up the ribber and just practice playing with it.

I had previously made a racked baby blanket on my Passap, now I want to try the same pattern on my Singer 155.

I finally finished!

I have been working on this sweater for about a month now, and if you know anything about machine knitting you know that is a long time for a sweater.  Since I only get to work on it after work and on the weekends I think I did pretty good time wise.  I really like the way it came out.

What do you think???

The Front

The back

I know it would have been so much easier to not do cables on the back, but I have always thought that a nice cabled front deserves something on the back.

As you can see, I didn't do the cabling all the way down the sweater I flipped the material so I would have the texture of the purl side and then I did a simple little tuck before ending with a 2x1 ribbbing.

The collar and sleeve hems are knitted in seed stitch - another reason I didn't want to do that part on the machine.

Now that I have finished it up, I just have to find it a home.

Letting my hands rest

Feeling a little guilty lately.  I haven't knitted anything because my hands have been hurting. I really like the cable on the sweater but I guess I over did it a little..

I have another project in the works.  No hand manipulation on this one.  If I can just figure out what size to knit it at.

Cable sweater

I like making cables, they're fun to make and they look really nice . This past weekend I have been working on a new sweater. I made it on my bulky using sugar and cream yarn.  I never can find a cable pattern I like when I'm in the mood to do cables so I always end up having to design one myself.    I'm not the most creative person so it always comes out mathematically correct :-)

Here is the front, just off the machine.

Innovation knitting machine

I Have really learned to appreciate my knitting machine, it makes great hats for charity.
My favorite pattern is just knitting the tube 24 inches long folding in half  and then you have a double thick hat.  By using two different color yarn 12 inches each,  you now have a reversible hat.

Finally getting my phone set up

I finally got my email set up today on my new phone.   This new phone has a lot more gadgets it's a galaxy 4 & I think I should be able to use it to help with my knitting and pictures and various other things.
I'm kind of in a dry spell right now.
I really don't know what to knit.
After coming home from work and getting in the pool, I really don't have much time before I have to go to bed.
Maybe that's why it seems there isn't as much time as it used to be, I'm spending more time outside.
Don't get me wrong , don't want to stay inside I enjoy going outside.

News baby layette

I just love making baby things

My newest project

I take my lunch to work and decided I was tired of using plastic bags from the stores so I knitted a lunch bag.

New phone new beginning

I'm hoping that with the new phone I will start using this blog like I wanted, to keep track of my knitting
